Traditional pergolas can be transformed into modern style by replacing its roofing with transparent materials. There are several transparent materials which can be used as roofing such as Plexiglas sheets complete-transparent covers and glass panels. Plexiglas sheets can be used if you want protection from rain and direct sunlight without heating the sitting area of the pergola.
